Baffi and Mo, Redfern

Here at The Empty Fridge, you should really believe that we don't do things in halves, especially with breakfast. We really do mean business when it comes to the morning meal - or noon depending on the prior evenings' shennanigans.

Demos, Myself and this post's honorary fridgemagnet - the Safa were in serious recovery mode one morning and  in search for a breakfast that would repair us. We found ourselves at Baffi and Mo, a cafe in Redfern renowned for kickstarting the broken with their hearty breakfast offerings. Below is how we roll..

Potato Hash stack with Avocado, Ham, Asparagus and a poached egg. ($16)

Pea and Corn Fritters topped with Avocado and a roasted tomato on the side. ($14)

The Ultimate Corn Fritters topped with Relish, Haloumi and a side of Bacon ($17.50)

A steak sandwich managed to manifest on our table as well! ($17)

Forget breakfast of champions - this is the breakfast of empty fridgers! The hash stack was to be my favourite - crunchy potato rosti drenched in goey poached egg and creamy avocado - I didn't care much for the ham or the other green things on the plate.

The humungus steak sandwich was spilling out of the wooden board it was served on and was cooked as requested, medium rare. The cornfritters were also a hit - although a little on the floury and soggy side (due to its thickness), the sweet corn just pops in your mouth and assures you that if you get through this meal - you'll forget about the pounding headache you may have. The haloumi and bacon adds that extra hit of grease that the subconscious craves for on a Sunday morning

Our mini outdoor table was at capacity as we tried to rehydrate with various juice concoctions, not to mention the Single Origin Roasters coffee for that caffeine hit. Time like this we should have taken the option to sit at one of the gigantic communal tables inside with a full view of the bustling kitchen and possibly be tempted by the selection of fresh baked sweets.

Service wasn't speedy but we were not in a rush and were still greeted with a smile and weren't judged as we ordered copious amounts of food during peak brunch time. If you heart big breakfasts and don't want the standart boring "big breakfast" then pay Baffi and Mo a visit, it may just be the fix that you need.
